Kelly Oubre Jr. has caused some controversy with the Madison Square Garden front row celebrities before Game 1 at the historic venue.
Anticipate some added tension and jeers from the celebrities following Oubre’s statement, “They’re gonna give celebrities those $100,000 worth of free tickets just to be there and not care about the game. That’s what they do.”
While it is true that some attending celebrities may not be knowledgeable about the NBA, others are and they have taken notice of Oubre’s remarks.
The New York Rangers hockey team did not provide models Emily Ratajkowski and Irina Shayk with more complimentary tickets after they left a Knicks game early in November.
Celebrities like that clearly have little regard for the game.
However, Ben Stiller appears to be an exception.
The actor sarcastically replied to Oubre’s comments with, “Are the Knicks in the playoffs?”
Entourage actor Jerry Ferrara was another displeased celebrity, who posted multiple responses on social media about Oubre’s comments.
In his initial post, Ferrara wrote, “Oh boy is this dude mistaken hahaha. I think this is code for “that place is gonna be the loudest place I’ve ever heard in my career.”
He went on to say, “We show up and are loud when the team is bad. Can’t imagine many people showed up during the process.”
Ferrara continued, “To the Sixers players. Please please please keep doing your interviews and talking your shit. We all know you have a rich playoff history the last 10’years.”
His final comment was, “Oubre acting like he doesn’t love playing in front of famous people lol. To me. This dude knows the garden is gonna be wild.”
