Kentucky Wildcats Roster Under Mark Pope: Who’s In and Out after John Calipari’s Departure for Arkansas

Kentucky Wildcats Roster Under Mark Pope: Who’s In and Out after John Calipari’s Departure for Arkansas

Kentucky added to its 2024-25 roster on Tuesday with the commitment of four-star guard Collin Chandler, a former BYU signee. Chandler, who stands at 6-foot-4, took two years off to go on a Mormon mission after being ranked as a top-40 prospect in the Class of 2022. He is set to start his freshman year with the Wildcats under new head coach Mark Pope.

Chandler’s commitment comes amidst several members of UK’s 2024 recruiting class reopening their recruitments following coach John Calipari’s departure for Arkansas. While four-star guards Billy Richmond and Travis Perry stay committed to Kentucky, four top-50 prospects previously pledged to the Wildcats are now looking elsewhere.

Pope, a former player under Rick Pitino at UK and coach at BYU, is now tasked with building a new roster for the upcoming season. With most of Kentucky’s 2023-24 roster either graduating, transferring, or entering the NBA Draft, Pope has his work cut out for him.

CBS Sports is closely tracking Kentucky’s roster and recruiting class status in real-time. Key players like Reed Sheppard and newcomers like Billy Richmond and Collin Chandler will be important pieces to watch in the upcoming season.
