Kevin Durant and Devin Booker Share Thoughts on Tough 0-2 Start Against Timberwolves

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have addressed the Phoenix Suns’ 0-2 start against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The Suns’ best players have struggled to get going at the same time this series, but Devin Booker doesn’t seem to be worried.

“Don’t count us out,” Booker said postgame. “It’s a series for a reason. I don’t think any road team’s won so far. I know that doesn’t have anything to do with us, but it’s just the situation that it is.”

Kevin Durant echoed Booker’s sentiment and encouraged Suns fans not to give up on the team.

“Can’t give up on us right now,” Durant said. “Sh*t, need it more than anything. I know it’s been a disappointing last couple games, even the season for our fans, but we need you more than ever now coming back home for Game 3.”

Phoenix’s third star, Bradley Beal, also spoke postgame and said the team had to be better at handling adversity during games.

“You have to,” Beal said. “Whatever it takes as a team. We gotta be better at coming together collectively in those moments. It’s crazy, nobody’s energy is in the wrong space, nobody’s mindset is in the wrong place.”

The Suns’ stars have struggled to get going against Minnesota’s stifling defense for the most part.

Booker has averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds on 37.9 percent from the field over the two games. Durant had 31 points in Game 1, but managed just 18 points on 6-15 shooting in Game 2.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday in Phoenix, and looms as a must-win for the Suns.
