Kevin Durant Responds Firmly to DeMarcus Cousins’ Locker Room Brawl Allegation

Kevin Durant Responds Firmly to DeMarcus Cousins' Locker Room Brawl Allegation

Kevin Durant didn’t waste time calling out what he sees as a false narrative, and this time, it came from a former teammate.

Four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins claimed there were “absolutely” fist fights inside the Phoenix Suns locker room this past season on Friday morning’s episode of Run It Back.

The comments started to circulate online almost instantly.

Durant caught wind of the clip, and he wasn’t having it.

“I have to contest this 94 footer. This some bulls—t to throw on us. Yea yea yea we were trash this year ha ha ha but we NEVER got close to this. NEVER,” Durant wrote on X.

The Suns fell apart in 2024–25. A star-stacked trio of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal couldn’t even crack the top ten in the West, finishing 11th overall and missing the Play-In entirely. But physical altercations is where Durant draws the line.

Cousins, who spent part of the 2018–19 season alongside KD in Golden State, didn’t back down from the pushback.

“The source was one of your teammates killa. And I wasn’t referring to you! Save this s—t for the others homie—,” he replied directly to Durant on X.

Cousins also criticised the Suns’ roster construction on the show, saying, “Phoenix was a bad situation from the jump. They put a team together based off names. It was never a team that made sense. You just put a bunch of scorers together and then threw some other names on and said ‘Go win a championship.’ That’s not how the game of basketball works.”

That segment from FanDuel TV’s Run It Back has since been deleted from X.

Durant is expected to be traded this offseason, with Phoenix likely heading in a new direction after the failed Big Three experiment. Meanwhile, Bradley Beal’s massive $250 million contract, with two years still remaining, makes him nearly impossible to move.
