Kevin Paredes nets second Bundesliga goal of season

Kevin Paredes’ first Wolfsburg start since November proved to be an impactful one.

Paredes scored his second Bundesliga goal of the season as Wolfsburg tied Cologne 1-1 on home soil Saturday. The U.S. Young Male Player of the Year logged his first 90 minutes for Niko Kovac’s squad, finishing as one of the impressive performers in the match.

After Faride Alidou broke the deadlock for Cologne, Paredes equalized just two minutes later for Wolfsburg. Paredes’ close-range finish nestled into the back of the net for a 1-1 tying goal.

However, neither team could find a winning goal and had to settle for one point apiece.

The 20-year-old led all players with five fouls drawn, while also winning eight of 14 duels, and registered two shots on target. It marked Paredes’ 15th league appearance of the campaign.

Wolfsburg sits in 11th following the draw and next hosts Hoffenheim on February 4 in league play.
