Kevin Yu, a 26-year-old from Chinese Taipei, secured his first PGA Tour victory at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship. He made a birdie on the 72nd hole to tie the lead and then clinched the win by stuffing his approach on the par-4 18th during the playoff against Beau Hossler.
Both Yu and Hossler were tied at 23 under after 72 holes. In the playoff, Hossler’s approach shot led to a difficult lie in the greenside bunker. Despite hitting a brilliant sand shot to a couple of feet, Yu’s excellent approach paved the way for his birdie and eventual victory.
This year’s Sanderson Farms Championship marked the third consecutive year and fourth time in six events that the tournament was decided by a playoff.
