Key Manchester United players return to training, boosting team morale – Latest updates from Old Trafford

Academy Match Report: Manchester United u18s 3-1 Everton u18s - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have received a major boost ahead of their US pre-season tour after several key players returned to training.

United bounced back from a 1-0 defeat against Rosenborg as they beat Scottish giants Rangers at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side cruised to a 2-0 victory vs. Rangers, with Amad Diallo and Carrington academy graduate Joe Hugill finding the back of the net in either half.

The squad that made its way to Edinburg for the meeting was made up of a mixture of senior stars and youngsters.

A few hours before the match, United confirmed that Antony, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford would miss the meeting with Rangers as they were suffering from “physical niggles.” Out of the three mentioned, only Rashford featured against Rosenborg and his absence in the subsequent match vs. Rangers would have undoubtedly caused a scare.

It was stated that Harry Maguire was excluded from the travelling contingent to afford him more time to work his way back to full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an injury.

Scott McTominay was rendered unavailable as he was still yet to regain match sharpness after his participation at Euro 2024 with Scotland.

Earlier on Tuesday, United issued an update and indicated that all five stars were part of the group that trained at Carrington.

They were also joined by Danish duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen.

Also present was goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

United wrote via their official website, “Antony, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford sat out of the match in Edinburgh with small niggles, while Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay continued their fitness work at the training ground.”

“The Danish pair [Eriksen and Hojlund] trained on their first day back after a period of post-Euros rest and recuperation, while Tom Heaton also returned to base following his role as a training goalkeeper with England in Germany.”

“The options available to Erik ten Hag are increasing as we prepare for meetings with Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool on the other side of the Atlantic.”

In the video below, Rashford is seen alongside his other teammates.

United will of course make their way to the United States on Wednesday.
