Kirk Cousins Gets Honest On What He’s Looking For In Free Agency

After the NFL crowns a champion in this weekend’s Super Bowl, there could be some significant player movement once the new league year begins.

The quarterback position, in particular, could see old faces in new places, and one man who should be sought after by a number of teams is veteran Kirk Cousins.

The veteran will be a free agent in March, and per SiriusXM NFL Radio, he said winning has to be a main focus, although he also said continuity will be a big part of his decision-making process.

“You have to focus on the winning,” Cousins said.

Cousins’ 2023 season ended in Week 8 when he tore his Achilles, but even without him, the Vikings continued a winning streak that hit five games before they crashed and missed the playoffs.

They got strong performances from rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison and tight end T.J. Hockenson, both of whom went over the 900-yard mark and combined for 15 touchdowns.

Of course, they still have Justin Jefferson, one of the game’s very best wide receivers who was on his way to another monster season until a hamstring injury derailed it.

Cousins is 35 years of age and is coming off the type of injury that can end an athlete’s career, so one has to wonder if it makes sense for Minnesota to pay him lots of money, especially on a long-term contract.

But perhaps a team that is on the cusp of contending for a Super Bowl championship will offer him a lucrative short-term contract and give him a better shot at winning right now.
