Kristoffer Lund scores missile for first senior goal

Kristoffer Lund’s first senior goal will certainly go down as a Goal of the Season candidate in Italy’s Serie B.

Lund scored his first goal for Palermo in a 3-2 home Serie B loss to Ternana. Lund played 58 minutes in his return to the Palermo starting lineup after previously being rested in each of the last two matches.

The U.S. men’s national team left back blasted home from long-range in the 19th minute, tying the match for Palermo at 1-1. It marked his first goal since scoring for Midtjylland’s Under-19 team back in August 2019.

Ternana would flip the match in its favor over a 10-minute span in the second half, grabbing a 3-1 advantage. Despite Palermo’s best efforts, the hosts would fall short in a 3-2 home defeat.

Lund has now accumulated over 2,100 combined minutes this season following his summer move from Hacken. The 21-year-old has remained a consistent performer for Palermo, who remain in the race for a promotion playoff spot.

Sitting 10 points clear of seventh place Cittadella, Palermo next visit Brescia on Saturday.
