Kyrgios Has ‘A Lot More to Give’ As Manager Cools Retirement Rumours

Nick Kyrgios‘ future in professional tennis has been questioned in recent weeks after the Australian spoke out about the demands of the game, but his manager, Daniel Horsfall, has dismissed retirement rumors.

In a recent interview on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Kyrgios gave an honest assessment of where he was right now with tennis. The Australian player explained that injuries, fatigue, and the pressures of being an elite athlete have affected his relationship with tennis.

Despite explicitly saying he did not “want to play anymore,” Kyrgios’ manager has tried to add further context to the situation.

In his own interview with SEN, Horsfall said that the 28-year-old is in going through a tough period right now after a challenging 2023 but he ruled out an early retirement for the 2022 Wimbledon finalist.

“Nick got really open and emotional with Jay, and I guess he visited some past demons. But for sure, all those things that he said like exhaustion, injuries or surgeries. It’s all true.”

“‘But, you know, he’s going to soldier on, he feels like he’s got a lot more to give.”

Also, Horsfall expanded on Kyrgios’ current physical and psychological state and shared that consistency has been a struggle over the past 12 months with the Australian.

In the 2023 season, Kyrgios played just one match and has been more involved with off-court enterprises, such as starting his OnlyFans account. However, Horsfall is optimistic that Kygios will be back at some stage, ready to give his all to tennis.

“It’s a constant battle every day, We can have a really good week, a really good day, or a really good month and then the next day after that could be something that’s just derailed us completely.”

“‘It is just about making sure that you take every day and giving it the best shot that you have.”
