Kyrgios Welcome In Brisbane Amid Injury Uncertainty

Kyrgios Welcome In Brisbane Amid Injury Uncertainty

It’s unknown whether Nick Kyrgios will play during the Australian summer because of his injuries, but should he, there will be a place for him at the 2024 Brisbane International.

Kyrgios played only one match on the ATP Tour in 2023, and it happened at the Stuttgart Open earlier in the year. It was a grass event, but it didn’t feature his signature play on the surface because he really struggled with his level.

Another injury setback happened not long after that, which caused him to miss play further. He never returned after that, which caused a lot of concern among fans because the injuries didn’t seem that complicated when it happened.

According to some recent reports and words by Kyrgios, a return in January is not certain. It’s a terrible situation, but should he recover in time, Brisbane is the place where it could happen.

Tournament director Cam Person spoke about the Australian and confirmed that he’ll have a spot in the draw if he recovers in time.

Nick has come out publicly and said he really wants to play in the Australian summer. He’s still in his recovery mode, he’s got to do what’s best for him. We’d love to have him here – he’s a past champion and a fan favourite – but he needs to do what’s best for him and his recovery.

Kyrgios has some good memories of Brisbane, as he won the event in the past and has plenty of fans in the city. A return would be great for the event however, health comes first. It really hinges upon him recovering in time.

We’d love to have him here – he’s a past champion and a fan favourite – but he needs to do what’s best for him and his recovery. Nick’s got another week if he wanted to enter, but I think it will come down to Nick understanding what his body is telling him. If his recovery is right and he can play in January, there will always be a spot for him.
