Kyrie Irving opens up about being labeled as a “1B” player

Kyrie Irving talks about "1B" label

Following the Dallas Mavericks’ 116-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals, Kyrie Irving addressed questions about being labeled as “1B” or a secondary superstar on the team behind Luka Doncic.

Irving, who contributed 33 points to the Mavericks’ win, emphasized that his focus is solely on winning basketball games, rather than the labels placed upon him by others.

“To be honest, I don’t care. I leave that for the words that everybody’s throwing around. I just care about winning basketball,” Irving said, via Mike Curtis.

The victory puts the Mavericks on the brink of their first NBA Finals appearance in 13 years, with Irving playing a pivotal role alongside Doncic.

Irving’s performance in crucial moments, including scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter, showcases his importance to the Mavericks’ success.
