LAFC secured their first-ever U.S. Open Cup title on Wednesday night with a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium. This win added to their previous trophies, including two Supporters’ Shields and one MLS Cup. After experiencing disappointment in previous finals, the team was determined to come out on top in this competition.

Ryan Hollingshead, who captained the team during the U.S. Open Cup final, expressed his excitement, stating, “Cool moment to be able to put the band on, go win the game, lift the cup, and do it for this club that I just love so dearly.” Sergi Palencia also shared his joy at being part of the team and contributing to their success.

The match saw goals from Olivier Giroud and Erik Thommy, with controversy surrounding potential offside calls. LAFC’s depth was on full display as Omar Campos and Kei Kamara made significant contributions to secure the victory.
