Arsenal are intrigued by the potential signing of Mikel Merino, but as of now, nothing has progressed beyond the initial interest. Merino has been busy with Spain at the Euros, which has made it challenging to advance any negotiations.

With the tournament now over, Arsenal may have the chance to solidify their interest in Merino and work towards a deal for the midfielder. However, there is no confirmation that talks have reached an advanced stage.

Midfield reinforcement is a priority for Arsenal this summer, and Merino, along with his Spanish teammate Martin Zubimendi, is on their radar. Despite not being regular starters, both players made an impact during the Euros.

Merino could be a more cost-effective option compared to Zubimendi due to his contract situation with Real Sociedad. At 28 years old, Merino falls slightly outside of Arsenal’s usual age range for signings under Mikel Arteta and Edu, but his versatility and skills align with what the club is seeking in a new midfielder.

While the potential deal for Merino is worth monitoring, top Spanish clubs are also considering moves for the Euro 2024 winner.

Desire Doue, a young French talent, has been attracting attention from various clubs, including Arsenal. The 19-year-old’s future at Rennes is uncertain, with expectations of a lucrative transfer before the transfer window closes.

Though there is significant interest in Doue, it has not been officially confirmed by Arsenal. Given the current squad composition, especially with talented attacking midfielders like Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira, it seems unlikely that a move for Doue will materialize without player exits.

Arsenal is actively working to retain Chido Obi Martin amidst interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Talks are ongoing, and the club is determined to secure the young striker’s future despite external pressures.

Following the conclusion of the Euros, it was evident that the tournament lacked memorable moments. Spain emerged as deserving champions, showcasing exceptional talent throughout the competition. While England’s journey ended in disappointment, individual performances were inconsistent, highlighting room for improvement.

With a crucial season ahead, Arsenal must ensure key players like Saka and Rice recharge during the offseason to make a strong start. Their return to form will be integral to the team’s success in the upcoming campaign.
