LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell Share Thoughts on Disappointing Defeat

LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell Share Thoughts on Disappointing Defeat

Following the Lakers’ 114-103 loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of their first-round series, LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell shared their thoughts on the game.

James emphasized the importance of attention to detail for the team, stating, “I’ve never played on a championship team that didn’t pay attention to detail. There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it. You have to.”

Despite his struggles with a 6-20 shooting performance resulting in 13 points, Russell addressed his performance, noting, “I don’t recall the last time I got 20 shots. So for me to get 20 good looks, not all of them were great, but I know what I’m capable of…so honestly I’m excited about that…sometimes the ball just doesn’t fall.”

Lakers coach Darvin Ham expressed confidence in Russell, refraining from benching him over one poor shooting night, highlighting his contributions leading up to this point. Ham also mentioned adjustments to be made against Nikola Jokic in Game 2, emphasizing the team’s need to step up.

The Lakers and Nuggets are set to face off in Game 2 in Denver on Wednesday.
