UConn head coach Dan Hurley, a surprising frontrunner for the vacant Los Angeles Lakers head coach position, has earned a glowing endorsement from the team’s superstar LeBron James.

A couple of months ago, following Hurley’s appearance on JJ Redick’s podcast “The Old Man & The Three,” where he discussed basketball tactics, LeBron took to X to express his admiration.

“He’s so DAMN GOOD!!! Along with his staff. Super creative with their O! Love it,” the four-time NBA champion tweeted.

Moreover, Hurley’s potential role in developing LeBron’s son Bronny, in case he gets drafted by the Lakers, adds another layer to the story.

Reports have emerged indicating that the Lakers are eyeing Hurley for their head coaching position, signaling a significant shift in their coaching search strategy.

Reportedly, the Lakers are preparing to offer Hurley a substantial, long-term contract to entice him away from his successful tenure at Connecticut.

Preliminary discussions between Hurley and the Lakers have already begun, with plans to intensify negotiations in the coming days.

With a remarkable track record of success, including back-to-back national championships at Connecticut, Hurley brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the table.

Hurley’s impressive achievements during the 2023-24 season, including leading the Huskies to a school-record 37 wins and multiple titles, have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim.

This past season, Hurley was honored with the Naismith College Coach of the Year and Sporting News National Coach of the Year awards, further solidifying his credentials.
