Lecce forward Nikola Krstovic harbors aspirations of joining Manchester United – Latest News and Transfer Updates

Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic dreams of playing for Manchester United - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United added another centre forward to their ranks this summer, in the shape of Dutch international Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee was rated as one of the best young strikers in Serie A and another forward in the Italian top flight has admitted it’s his dream to follow in the former Bologna man’s footsteps.

As reported by Sport Witness, Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic has made public his desire to play for United, in a recent interview with local media.

Speaking after Lecce’s 0-0 draw with Torino at the weekend, Kristovic spoke on his future ambitions.

“After the match against Torino he (compatriot Mirko Vucinic) told me ‘think about the next one’. My dream is Manchester United,” he said.

However, the 24-year-old admitted he and his family are “very happy” in Italy and is happy to “think about the present” before making any plans to leave.

Furthermore, Krstovic will need to develop at his current home, having scored just nine times in 41 appearances over two seasons with Lecce.

Despite his modest numbers in Serie A, the Montenegrin has showed a lethal side, netting 37 goals in 66 games for Dunajska Strada and 41 goals in 96 for Golubovac before his big move.

Krstovic has started the new season well and with a couple of goals to his name already, he will be hoping this is his breakthrough campaign, catching Erik ten Hag’s eye in the process.

United are certainly in need of some additional firepower in attacking areas, having comfortably finished as the lowest scorers in the top eight of the Premier League last season.

It’s a theme that’s carried over to the new campaign with United wasting more big chances in the division than any other side.

Should Krstovic start finding the net with regularity in Italy, it may be a case of his dream becoming a reality in the not so distant future.
