Leeds’ Draw Against Sunderland Puts Pressure on Jon Newsome

Jon Newsome has someone else to blame for Leeds draw vs. Sunderland

BBC pundit Jon Newsome believes Brenden Aaronson is to blame for Leeds United’s draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last night.

Leeds were shocked in the final minutes after Illan Meslier’s mistake gifted Sunderland a goal. Just moments before, the USMNT player missed a great opportunity to secure the win for Leeds.

The 23-year-old had a lot of space to score but opted for a low shot that was blocked by a defender.

Newsome commented, “When you look at the overall game, especially the second half, the chance that Brenden Aaronson had towards the end, in my opinion, should have been a pass. Either pass it into the goal or set up Willy Gnonto.”

“It’s these little things where I believe we need to be more clinical. If Leeds want to achieve automatic promotion this season, when they are in control, dominating the game, and creating opportunities, they need to be more clinical in the final third.”
