Joel Piroe Set to Depart Leeds United
Date: February 18, 2026

Joel Piroe is reportedly facing an exit from Leeds United after a challenging stint at the club.
In January, rumors swirled regarding a potential transfer, but nothing came to fruition. However, it appears Piroe may seek a new club come the end of the season. His lack of consistent playing time in the Premier League suggests that a change is necessary for his development.
Piroe Requires New Opportunity
The 26-year-old forward is at a crucial stage in his career, and remaining on the subs bench at Leeds United will not aid his growth.
Journalist Graham Smyth has indicated that Piroe’s time with the club may be drawing to a close, with the possibility of Leeds looking to profit from his departure. Observers are keen to see where he might land next, particularly if it offers him regular playing time.
Piroe has previously demonstrated his talent at Leeds and unquestionably has the potential to thrive in the right environment.
“It’s just not happening for Joel Piroe,” Smyth noted while appearing on the Square Ball podcast. “You can mention rustiness, but the crowd at St. Andrew’s realized that the ball needed to move to Calvert-Lewin sooner than it did, and he held on to it a fraction too long. It’s unfortunate because we’ve witnessed him make incisive passes that cut through defenses. It’s just not working for him right now.”
Leeds Must Strengthen Their Attack

In light of Piroe’s potential exit, Leeds United should consider enhancing their forward options. The team needs a dependable goalscorer who can regularly find the net, as they have relied heavily on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
To establish themselves as a consistent Premier League side, they will need to bolster their attacking unit for greater competition at the top level.
