Bilal El Khannouss Set to Move to VfB Stuttgart

Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, an attacking midfielder, is poised to permanently transfer to VfB Stuttgart.

After Leicester City’s drop to the Championship last season, the Moroccan player expressed his reluctance to remain in the second tier. Although Crystal Palace and Newcastle United showed interest in keeping him in the Premier League, Leicester preferred not to let him join another English side.

Stuttgart Finalizing the Transfer

Initially joining Stuttgart on loan last summer, the 21-year-old’s impressive contributions to the team have not gone unnoticed. According to reports from Bild via SportWitness, his loan will transition into a permanent arrangement this summer.

The conditions of his loan included an obligation based on his participation, which has now been activated. El Khannouss has made 32 appearances for Stuttgart, contributing to 12 goals during his time in the Bundesliga.

As a result of this agreement, Leicester will receive €18 million, a significant boost for the club considering their financial situation.

Financial Relief for Leicester City

The Foxes had already secured €3.5 million as part of the loan fee last summer, bringing their total recovery to €21.5 million from the €24.3 million spent to bring him in from Genk. The ultimate fee could increase with performance bonuses, and Leicester has also negotiated a buy-on clause.

While the Championship side won’t see any payment until the summer, this deal allows them to leverage funds against future earnings. El Khannouss is set to sign a contract extending to 2030, which would include an annual salary of €3 million.
