Linn Grant stages remarkable comeback to capture victory at Scandinavian Mixed – Golf News

Linn Grant overturns record deficit to win Scandinavian Mixed - Golf News

Linn Grant made history on the European Tour by producing the largest final round comeback ever to win the DP World Tour’s Scandinavian Mixed tournament for the second time in three years.

The 24-year-old started the final round 11 shots behind Swedish player Sebastian Söderberg, who had a commanding eight-shot lead after the first three rounds with scores of 63, 66, and 66.

Grant, who also won the event in 2022, came out strong with a 31 on the front nine and finished with a bogey-free 65, posting a clubhouse lead of 17-under-par at Vasatorps Golfklubb. When Söderberg reached the 18th hole, he held a lead of just one shot over Grant.

Under pressure, Söderberg faltered with bogeys on 13 and 15 before a disappointing double-bogey on the final hole, leaving Grant as the winner with her sixth Ladies European Tour title.

Grant, playing in her hometown of Helsingborg with her brother Jonathan as caddie, expressed mixed emotions about her victory and empathized with Söderberg’s loss. She enjoyed the experience of competing with her brother and celebrating in front of her home crowd.

The remarkable comeback by Grant set new records on the European Tour, as no player had ever surrendered an eight-stroke lead after 54 holes. Her 11-stroke deficit overcome during the final round is now the largest in European Tour history.

Söderberg finished tied for second with Calum Hill from Scotland at 16 under par, while Johanna Gustavsson from Sweden tied for fourth with English players Alex Fitzpatrick and Andy Sullivan at 13 under par.
