The Detroit Lions are coming off arguably their best season in franchise history, with the team coming within one win of the Super Bowl, but were unable to get the best of Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
With so many positive things going for the Lions right now, the last thing this team on the rise wants is negative press or problems on or off the football field, as they’ll want to capitalize on this potential championship window for the franchise after so many disappointing years.
Unfortunately, the Lions weren’t able to avoid some drama during this NFL offseason, with them having to part ways with cornerback Cam Sutton for an unusual off-the-field issue.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions released Sutton on Thursday.

Apparently, Sutton is wanted by the law, with police in Florida trying to find him over the last two weeks, which obviously isn’t a great sign.
According to Schefter, there’s an arrest warrant for Sutton because of his involvement in a domestic violence case.

Sutton is coming off his seventh season in the NFL, his first with the Lions, after spending his first six years with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The University of Tennessee product played in all 17 games for the Lions during the 2024 campaign, recording an interception, six passes defensed, a forced fumble, and 50 solo tackles.
Although he’s not among the elite corners in the game today, the loss of Sutton in the secondary could prove costly and something the team might need to address in free agency or through the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
