Lisandro Martinez incites backlash with poorly-timed social media post following Man United’s defeat by Liverpool – Latest Manchester United Updates and Transfer News

Man United fans now being charged £80 for new shirts by official vendors - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has found himself on the wrong end of supporters’ opinions after a recent social media post he made.

Martinez was part of the United team that was dominated by Liverpool on Sunday as they suffered a 3-0 loss at home.

A Luis Diaz first-half brace and a strike from Mohamed Salah was all the Merseysiders needed to pile further misery on Erik ten Hag and his players, who have now suffered two successive Premier League defeats.

Like most of his teammates, Martinez was poor and booked for a reckless challenge on Dominik Szoboszlai.

His tackle on Szoboszlai led to a confrontation with Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk.

A day after United lost to their bitter rivals, Martinez took to social media and shared an image of him linking up with Argentina teammate Alexis Mac Allister, who plays for Liverpool.

In the picture, Martinez and Mac Allister are seen standing next to each other, all smiles.

The United No. 6 captioned the post with the message, “At home.”

Unsurprisingly, the post caused a stir on both X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, with scores of United fans letting the defender know that the picture was inappropriate considering Sunday’s defeat is still fresh in the mind.

As captured here by talkSPORT, one supporter wrote, “The guy just beat us 3-0 bro don’t be uploading a pic with him the very next day.”

Another stated, “What’s this guy doing? The whole Manchester United fans and owners are fuming and you have the audacity to do this?”

A third pointed out, “Licha I love you to bits, but this is not it man!”

A United fan page on X replied, “Now’s not the time.”
