Liverpool ahead of Man Utd in race

Liverpool ahead of Man Utd in race

Liverpool are targeting the transfer of Johan Bakayoko and they reportedly seem to have been handed a boost on that front as Manchester United’s intent on signing him is uncertain.

Man Utd are linked with Bakayoko in a report from Fussball News, but it’s also suggested that any progress on this deal hinges on more certainty with their managerial situation, as it’s still not entirely clear if Erik ten Hag will be staying on at Old Trafford.

Bakayoko looks like he could be a useful option for the Red Devils, who have failed to get the best out of recent signings like Jadon Sancho and Antony out wide, while Alejandro Garnacho has shown promise but is probably not quite ready yet to be an automatic starter for a club with such big ambitions.

CaughtOffside understands that Bakayoko is on Liverpool’s radar as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement, with the Egyptian star not getting any younger and with Saudi Pro League clubs possibly still hovering after showing an interest in him last summer.

Bakayoko transfer could be ideal for Liverpool

LFC would surely not find it easy to replace Salah, but Bakayoko is an exciting talent who could be a good option for the Reds, so they’ll surely be pleased that United don’t currently seem to be moving into pole position for this deal.

The highly-rated young Belgian has shone at PSV and a big move seems inevitable for him sooner rather than later, with Fussball News also mentioning the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain as monitoring him.

Liverpool need to have a good summer, however, and land their priority targets if they are to recover from the blow of legendary manager Jurgen Klopp stepping down at the end of this season.

Beating United to an elite talent like Bakayoko could be an ideal start.
