Liverpool Interested in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak
Reports indicate that Liverpool has expressed interest in acquiring Alexander Isak from Newcastle United as they search for a new striker this summer. The Premier League champions are currently evaluating their options, especially amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Darwin Núñez, who is attracting interest from clubs like Napoli.
Recently, Liverpool rejected a bid from Bayern Munich worth £58.6 million for forward Luis Díaz, demonstrating their commitment to retaining key players. While no formal offer for Isak has been made, Liverpool has reached out to Newcastle to inquire about his potential availability.
Newcastle has maintained that they do not intend to sell Isak, who has netted 62 goals in 102 appearances for the club. Liverpool recently shattered their transfer record by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee that could reach £116 million, indicating they may need to exceed that amount to secure Isak’s transfer.
In parallel, Newcastle is reportedly negotiating a deal to bring Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, aiming to strengthen their attacking lineup alongside Isak.
Although Liverpool has shown interest in Ekitike as well, sources suggest they are not fully convinced by the 23-year-old. Nevertheless, Newcastle is expected to increase their offer to Frankfurt in the near future.
