Liverpool FC scouts observed Viktor Gyokeres during their match on Sunday.

Reds scouted Viktor Gyokeres on Sunday

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. According to a report from HITC, Liverpool officials visited Portugal recently to evaluate the Swedish international striker. Gyokeres, 25, has had an outstanding season and is considered one of the top strikers in the world right now.

Liverpool’s interest in Gyokeres is not surprising, especially given the inconsistent finishing of players like Darwin Nunez. Despite Nunez’s impressive performances this season, Liverpool are in need of a more reliable finisher to lead their attacking line, and Gyokeres, a former Coventry City striker, fits the bill.

Liverpool scouts observed Gyokeres in action against Vitoria Guimaraes, where he scored two goals in a 3-0 victory. The striker has already netted 38 goals in all competitions this season and provided 16 assists.

The possibility of joining a prestigious club like Liverpool will likely appeal to Gyokeres. However, he is under a long-term contract with Sporting CP, who are not under any pressure to sell him. They could demand his full €100 million release clause. The coming weeks will reveal how the situation progresses.

With rumors of Mohamed Salah potentially leaving in the summer, Liverpool may need to find a replacement for his goal-scoring contributions. Acquiring a top-quality striker should be a priority for the club in the upcoming transfer window.
