Liverpool anticipates another hectic summer transfer window in 2026, following last year’s expenditure of over £400 million. The club plans to pursue a new central defender, regardless of whether Ibrahima Konate remains with the team.
There has been considerable speculation surrounding Konate’s status, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season. Liverpool has engaged in discussions about a new contract and remains in a favorable position to finalize a deal.
“It didn’t surprise me at all to hear Real Madrid pull out. They’ll have been watching him so far this season and have decided they need somebody more consistent and reliable. In that same vein, I think Liverpool will be prepared to let him go, so there’s every chance he will leave Liverpool even if it isn’t the move we might have expected.”
Should Liverpool Meet Konate’s Contract Expectations?
So far, Liverpool has struggled to come to an agreement on personal terms with Konate’s representatives, who are requesting a substantial pay raise. The club likely has reservations about awarding another hefty contract, especially in light of his performances since the beginning of the season.
