Transgender golfer Hailey Davidson is currently competing in this week’s LPGA Qualifying event, which has sparked growing concern among players on both the LPGA and Epson Tour regarding the organization’s Gender Policy. The Independent Women’s Forum recently shared a letter signed by over 275 female golfers, calling for the repeal of all policies and rules that allow biological males to compete in women’s events. This letter emphasizes the importance of having a clear and consistent participation policy based on a player’s immutable sex, as reported by Golfweek.
LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan stated in a memo sent to players that the tour is planning to conclude a review of its current policy by the end of the year and implement any updates before the 2025 season. The emphasis is on ensuring fair competition and addressing competitive advantages.
Meanwhile, Hailey Davidson continues to compete in the LPGA Qualifying event in Florida, aiming to secure Epson Tour status for the 2025 season. The journey for Davidson, who began hormone treatments in 2015 and underwent gender reassignment surgery in January 2021, has been closely followed within the golfing community.
