Ludvig Aberg Joins TGL Roster in Surprise PGA Tour Addition

PGA Tour’s Ludvig Aberg a surprise TGL roster addition

The final roster announcement for the inaugural season of TGL had a surprising twist with Swedish sensation Ludvig Aberg joining the ranks. Aberg, who had an impressive college career at Texas Tech, is set to compete when the league debuts in January.

The Bay Golf Club’s inaugural roster boasts four players ranked within the top 40 in the Official World Golf Ranking, with two in the top seven.

The team includes sixth-ranked Aberg, who has victories on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, contributed to Team Europe’s Ryder Cup win, and finished second in his major debut at the Masters. Also part of the team are No. 3 Wyndham Clark, rising star Min Woo Lee (No. 32), and 2019 British Open champion Shane Lowry (No. 40), who recently won the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic with Rory McIlroy.

The team represents golfers from the U.S., Sweden, Ireland, and Australia, with a combined social media following of nearly 2 million. With this announcement, TGL has revealed all six team brands and 23 of the 24 players on team rosters.

The franchise is majority-owned by Marc Lasry, owner of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, through his Avenue Sports Fund, along with co-owners Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala of the Golden State Warriors. The ownership group also includes global stars John Stones, Alex Albon, Leonardo Fiorvanti, and Kanoa Igarashi.

The Bay Golf Club’s logo was unveiled, reflecting the team’s Northern California roots with a design that combines elements of the redwood forest and golf. The branding captures the region’s lush landscape and golfing allure.

TGL is a new team-based golf league in partnership with the PGA Tour. It features a tech-driven competition with a data-rich virtual course and dynamic short-game complex. The first season of TGL is set to begin in early 2025.
