Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is not making any excuses for his struggles in the first-round playoff series against the LA Clippers despite playing through a right knee injury. Doncic acknowledges the impact of his injury on his performance and expresses his desire to support his teammate Kyrie Irving more effectively.
“I just got to help him more,” Doncic said regarding Irving. “I feel like I’m letting him down, so I got to be there. I got to help him more. He’s given everything that he has, and he’s been amazing for us the whole series.”
Doncic sustained the knee injury in the first quarter of Game 3, affecting his ability to create separation from defenders. Despite the injury, Doncic remains committed to improving his performance.
“It’s hurting obviously, but it shouldn’t be an excuse, man,” Doncic commented after playing 45 minutes in Game 4. “Just came out and a little sloppy, so I got to be way better than that.”
The Clippers emerged victorious in Game 4, tying the series at 2-2. Game 5 is set to take place in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
