Dallas Mavericks forward Derrick Jones Jr. received major compliment from his superstar teammate Luka Doncic.

The Slovenian took to social media to react to a quote by Jones following the Mavs’ Game 5 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in the first-round series.

“I was undrafted. I went into situations where I wasn’t supposed to be on the roster or playing… I fought my way into a roster spot and I fought my way into the rotation,” Jones was quoted saying during the postgame press conference.

Doncic replied with a short, yet strong phrase. “Very very underrated!!” he tweeted.

This is Jones’ first year with the Mavericks. He averaged 8.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 23.5 minutes per game during the regular season. Jones’ role increased in playoffs as he is averaging 9.4 points, and 4.2 rebounds in 28 minutes per game.

The 27-year-old player, who won the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, is on a one-year, $2.7 million contract with the Mavericks and will become an unrestricted free agent in summer.
