Luka Doncic reflects on Panathinaikos game as most intense fan atmosphere.

Luka Doncic recalls Panathinaikos game as most hostile crowd encounter

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic reminisced about his encounter with Panathinaikos, naming it as the most hostile crowd atmosphere he has faced in his illustrious career.

As Doncic gears up for his first NBA Finals appearance against the Boston Celtics, he reflected on a pivotal EuroLeague matchup during his tenure with Real Madrid.

Recalling the intense atmosphere, Doncic recounted, “I remember it was quarterfinals of EuroLeague against Panathinaikos in Panathinaikos. The crowd went crazy and they started 20-0. Imagine that.”

During the 2017-18 EuroLeague season, Panathinaikos overwhelmed Real Madrid with a dominant performance, securing a resounding 95-67 victory in Game 1 of the quarterfinals.

Despite the formidable home court advantage enjoyed by Panathinaikos, Real Madrid showcased resilience, rallying to clinch victories in the subsequent three games and ultimately progressing to the coveted Final Four stage.

Amidst the intense competition, Doncic’s standout performances propelled Real Madrid to clinch the EuroLeague title, culminating in his recognition as the Final Four MVP.

Following his triumphant EuroLeague campaign, Doncic embarked on his NBA journey, joining the Dallas Mavericks as the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
