Armed with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at his disposal, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa turned in the best year of his NFL career.

Tagovailoa made his first Pro Bowl and was the league’s passing yards leader, recording 4,624 yards while throwing 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

The former Alabama star struggled with injuries early in his career, but a fully healthy 2023 NFL season proved he could be one of the best signal-callers in the NFL.

With head coach Mike McDaniel scheming up a pass-friendly offense with easy reads and opportunities for deep shots down the field, Tagovailoa capitalized on his opportunities and brought the Dolphins to the postseason.

While they were thoroughly outplayed in the Wild Card round against the Kansas City Chiefs, the season should still be considered a success.

Ahead of the 2024 NFL season, Madden 25 released rankings of players and Tagovailoa cracked the top-10 among quarterbacks, via FinsXtra.

“Tua Tagovailoa will be having the 6th highest QB rating in Madden 25: 1. Patrick Mahomes (99) 2. Lamar Jackson (98) 3. Joe Burrow (93) 4. Josh Allen (92) 5. Dak Prescott (90) 6. Tua Tagovailoa (88) 7. Jalen Hurts (87) 8. Justin Herbert (87) 9. Brock Purdy (85) 10. Kirk Cousins (85),” they tweeted.

At first glance, it’s surprising to see Tagovailoa ahead of stars like the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and the Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert, but it speaks to how impressive his 2023 campaign was.

However, breaking the top-five next season will be a tall task given who’s ahead of him on the list.

While Tagovailoa might never reach that level of elite in the NFL, he’s done more than enough to prove that he’s someone the Dolphins can build their roster around.
