The second wide receiver taken after Marvin Harrison Jr. was grabbed by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday was LSU’s Malik Nabers.

The All-American receiver was drafted at No. 6 overall by the New York Giants.

He had a message for Giants fans after being introduced to the media, per Giants Videos on Twitter.

“When the ball’s in the quarterback’s hands, Malik’s gonna be open,” the former Tiger said Friday.

Arrogance and cockiness can be great weapons for any player in the NFL, especially if they know how to back it up.

At the college level, Nabers was able to do just that.

While in Baton Rouge, he turned himself into an All-SEC player.

He put together back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons while catching passes from Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

His 2023 season was particularly impressive as he set career-highs in receptions (89), receiving yards (1,569), and touchdown catches (14).

Now heading to New York, quarterback Daniel Jones, who may very well be under fire this season, will need Nabers to be big-time on offense.

The team also lost receivers Sterling Shepard and Parris Campbell earlier this offseason.

Nabers is capable of being a true No. 1 wide receiver that can do everything well.

If Jones and head coach Brian Daboll can’t utilize him properly, both of them may very well be out of a job this time next season.
