Malik Tillman’s standout performance helps PSV edge closer to Eredivisie championship

Malik Tillman shines as PSV draws closer to Eredivisie title

PSV is on the verge of clinching the Eredivisie title after Malik Tillman’s Man of the Match showing Thursday night in Heerenveen.

Tillman scored twice and assisted once as PSV rolled past SC Heerenveen 8-0 to move 12 points clear atop the league table. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder logged 90 minutes in the match while fellow USMNT attacker Ricardo Pepi played 12 minutes off the bench.

Guus Til opened the scoring for Peter Bosz’s men in the seventh minute, picking up a pass from Tillman before slotting home a right-footed effort.

Tillman’s ninth minute header extended PSV’s lead to 2-0 before the Bayern Munich loanee drilled a low shot two minutes later for a 3-0 advantage. It marked Tillman’s first multi-goal performance of the season for the Dutch leaders.

Til would add his second goal of the first half before Joey Veerman made it 5-0 ahead of the interval.

PSV kept its foot on the gas in the second half with Johan Bakayoko, Luuk De Jong, and Patrick Van Aanholt all scoring goals of their own.

Tillman, 21, led all players in chances created (2), duels won (7), and fouls drawn (4). He now has nine goals and 16 assists this season across all competitions.

PSV can clinch the league title pending Feyenoord’s result later this evening, or at home on Sunday vs. Sparta Rotterdam.
