Manchester City is set to make a move for Crystal Palace’s captain Marc Guéhi before the closure of the January transfer window, as reported by TalkSPORT.

The Premier League leaders have identified Guéhi, an England international, as a key target amid ongoing issues with defensive injuries. However, negotiations are expected to be challenging, with Crystal Palace holding firm on their £35 million asking price.

Reports suggest that City is contemplating an offer, yet it is unlikely to meet the full £35 million demand set by Palace.

Man City interested in Guéhi but hesitant on full price

Pep Guardiola’s squad is currently facing injuries to key defenders Joško Gvardiol and Rúben Dias, leaving them with limited options at center-back.

At 25 years old, Guéhi is seen as an ideal short-term addition while also possessing the potential to be a long-term solution for City’s defense.

However, with only six months remaining on his contract, City is wary of paying Palace’s asking price, arguing that it does not reflect the short duration of Guéhi’s deal.

City is not the only club interested in Guéhi. Liverpool has been monitoring the player since last summer as they look to bolster their defense amid issues at center-back and uncertainty regarding Ibrahima Konaté’s contract.

Bayern Munich is also a strong contender, reportedly willing to wait until summer to secure Guéhi as a free agent, which may be an attractive option for him, allowing him to choose from several top clubs across Europe.
