Man United makes €45m bid for PSG midfielder Ugarte – Transfer Update from Old Trafford

Manuel Ugarte would "love" to play for Manchester United - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have reportedly tabled a bid worth €45m including bonuses for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Midfield is an area of the pitch Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are keen on bolstering ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season and in recent days, Ugarte has emerged as one of their top targets.

The midfield destroyer made 25 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG last term and 37 across all competitions. He managed just two assists.

Ugarte moved to the Parisian club just 12 months ago from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, but the Uruguayan midfielder wasn’t a guaranteed starter towards the end of the season as Luis Enrique demonstrated a clear preference for other midfield options.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United had submitted an opening offer for Ugarte, but this was swiftly rejected by his employers as it fell firmly below their valuation of him.

It was stated that talks between the two sides remained ongoing.

On his part, Ugarte would love to seal a switch to Old Trafford as there’s no real place for him at PSG under Enrique.

Le10sport now claim that United have gone in again for Ugarte with the hope that the reigning French champions finally let him go.

“There are three clubs actively positioned on Manuel Ugarte: Manchester United, FC Barcelona and Manchester City.”

“According to our latest sources, Manchester United is exerting a lot of pressure behind the scenes, with the player as well as PSG. And the Manchester board is very optimistic about the outcome of the case!”

“At the time of writing, Manchester United believes it is able to close the deal with PSG for Manuel Ugarte. The case is well advanced and there would not be much missing to reach a finalization.”

“Faced with interest, Paris [PSG] showed that it was listening. And the offer from Manchester United has fueled internal reflection. This proposal would be 45 million euros, accompanied by several bonuses. Luis Enrique will have to decide.”

The news outlet notes that Enrique will either ask PSG to rebuff overtures from Ugarte and build his midfield around the Uruguay international or the Spaniard coach will let the 23-year-old leave in search of pastures anew.

Ugarte is currently away with the Uruguay national team as they prepare for their Copa America semi-final clash against Colombia on Thursday.
