Man United set to lose out on Barcelona wonderkid Marc Bernal – Latest on Manchester United News and Transfer Updates

Manchester United to miss out on Barcelona prodigy Marc Bernal - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s pursuit of Marc Bernal is expected to be unsuccessful with the midfielder in line to sign a new contract at Barcelona imminently.

United strengthened their senior and Under-21s side’s midfield by signing Manuel Ugarte and Sékou Koné this summer.

However, reports suggest that the Red Devils are still looking for more midfielders.

According to ESPN’s Moises Llorens, United targeted Bernal, who is under contract with Barcelona until 2026 with a release clause of €20 million.

Both Manchester United and Newcastle United showed interest in paying his release clause.

The 17-year-old Bernal has been making waves in Spain, impressing Hansi Flick and starting in Barca’s La Liga games.

Despite an injury setback, Bernal remains a sought-after talent.

Llorens reports that Barcelona is set to renew Bernal’s contract this week, securing his future despite Premier League interest.

Gavi, another Barca midfielder, has also been linked with United recently.

Last week, it was reported that Manchester United is keeping an eye on Gavi’s situation.

The return of Gavi could have implications for Flick’s plans, especially given Barcelona’s financial situation.

It will be interesting to see how United approaches future transfer windows given these circumstances.
