Reports from TEAMtalk indicate that the management at Old Trafford regards the Al-Hilal player as a “last resort” should their main targets be unavailable.
It is believed that Manchester United is aware of Neves’ circumstances in Saudi Arabia, including the financial terms that would be necessary to acquire him during the season.
The 28-year-old midfielder made the move to Al-Hilal in 2023 amid the Saudi Pro League’s extensive recruitment efforts. However, recent information has pointed towards the former Wolves captain being open to a return to European football under suitable conditions.

Rúben Neves fits within this alternative selection. His expertise, leadership qualities, and passing ability have been well documented in England, particularly during his time with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he became known as one of the league’s most dependable deep-lying midfielders.
However, financial factors present a significant barrier. Neves is reportedly earning a substantial salary in Saudi Arabia, leading United to hesitate about altering their wage structure.
