Manchester United announces Rasmus Hojlund as their new number 9

Rasmus Hojlund was involved in feuds with Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot earlier this season - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund will be the club’s new number nine going into the new season.

The Danish striker was officially presented with his new squad number yesterday (Wednesday) and will don the famous shirt for the upcoming campaign.

The club released pictures on their social media of Hojlund in his new jersey with transfer guru Fabrizio Romao also confirming the news.

Hojlund’s debut season at Old Trafford wasn’t without it’s struggles but his infectious enthusiasm and commitment endeared him to the home faithful.

The 21-year-old ended up with 16 goals across all competitions, including 10 in the Premier League.

Ending on domestic double figures was a fine reward for his efforts, after a testing first season which saw him carry the burden of leading United’s front line almost single-handedly.

Hojlund now steps into a shirt number formerly worn by legends of the club including the late Sir Bobby Charlton and goal machine Andy Cole.

Cole, in particular, will be a great source of inspiration to Hojlund with the pair sharing a similar playing style.

Treble-winner, Cole, slammed in 121 goals during his time at Old Trafford and Hojlund will be desperate to reach similar heights.

The young striker returned to Carrington on Monday and will be available for United’s pre-season Tour of the United States which kicks off this weekend.

United face Arsenal in Los Angeles on the first leg of their trip before games against Real Betis and arch rivals Liverpool.
