Manchester United Express Interest in Flamengo Youngster Wesley – Latest Man United Transfer Updates

Manchester United show interest in Flamengo talent Wesley - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have been linked with Flamengo right-back Wesley.

United only revamped their right-back position this summer by shipping Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United and filling the void by signing Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

The Moroccan star has had a promising start to his United career, having impressed with his technical prowess and positional awareness. Further, Portuguese right-back Diogo Dalot, who has largely played at left-back this season, has also been one of the standout players during Erik ten Hag’s reign at Old Trafford.

However, it appears United are still exploring the transfer market for opportunities at right-back, and the latest player to emerge on their radar is supposedly Wesley.

According to Bolavip (via Sport Witness), United have “shown interest” in signing the 21-year-old right-back in recent times.

It is claimed the Brazilian talent has impressed United with his performances and Flamengo believe their prodigy is developing very well.

There is a feeling at the club that his progress could help them bag a significant fee in the future. The flying South American full-back attracted interest from Europe this summer, but a move failed to materialize.

The youngster, who has been dubbed “the next Cafu” on social media, made 42 appearances across all competitions during the 2023/24 campaign and registered two assists.

It is understood Flamengo want to sell Wesley for €25m. Further, United’s interest has apparently given them belief that they can get such a fee.

How the Red Devils being linked with Wesley would impact his valuation remains to be seen, but at this stage, it is tough to see United spending a fee in the region of €25m to add another right-back to their ranks.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting United would prioritize signing a new left-back in the January transfer window.

With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still sidelined, Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell has emerged as the club’s “top target”.
