Manchester United have reportedly taken a significant step in their bid to complete the signing of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee has risen in stature and prominence over the last 12 months after playing a crucial role in Bologna’s extremely successful 2023/24 campaign.

The Netherlands international registered an impressive 11 goals and four assists as Bologna finished fifth in Serie A to guarantee themselves a place in the Champions League after a 50-year absence from the continental competition.

The 23-year-old has been strongly linked to United for weeks now it seems that it’s only a matter of time until a deal for him gets over the line.

Bologna sporting director Giovanni Sartori recently confirmed as much when he revealed that Zirkzee is all but assured to leave Renato Dall’Ara Stadium in the coming weeks.

A subsequent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the talisman is prepared to join United, who have struck an agreement with his representative over agent fees and commissions. It was stated that Zirkzee held direct conversations with Ten Hag and was convinced about the club’s ambitious project and where he fits in.

Calciomercato have now provided key details about the contract United have offered Zirkzee.

The Italian publication reveals, “The Red Devils have offered the Dutch centre-forward a contract worth €6 million per season until 2029.”

“Furthermore, Erik ten Hag, coach of the English team, has been authorised to contact agent Kia Joorabchian directly.”

“In all of this, Milan remains at a standstill: the agreement with the player exists, but the final decisive step to unblock and conclude the deal is missing, namely the issue of commissions (with Zirkzee’s agent asking for a figure of €15 million) to be resolved.”

It’s believed that Zirkzee currently earns around €1.15m per campaign at Bologna. This translates to about €22,115 per week without bonuses. His terms with the Rossoblu expire in 2026.
