Manchester United Pursues Barcelona’s Marc Casadó

According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United has shown interest in Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó. The 22-year-old is acknowledged for his skillful play as a holding midfielder, making him a target not only for United but also for Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are considering him as part of their transfer plans for the upcoming summer window.
Internally at Barcelona, Casadó is appreciated for his maturity, strategic pressing, and ability to win the ball back, and Spanish media indicate that various teams are keeping tabs on him as a prime candidate in search of undervalued young talent with significant potential.
Midfield Overhaul Planned at Manchester United
The interest in Casadó aligns with Manchester United’s broader strategy for restructuring their midfield in 2026. The club is also linked with several other midfielders, including Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, Carlos Baleba from Brighton, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Joao Gomes of Wolves.
Strengthening the midfield has become critical for United due to ongoing challenges within the squad, particularly with Casemiro’s contract nearing its end and Manuel Ugarte’s subpar performance at the club.
However, the chances of securing a transfer during the January window are considered slim.
Summer Transfer Activity Anticipated

The management at United has opted to hold off on significant signings until a permanent manager is appointed, following the departure of Ruben Amorim and interim management by Michael Carrick. Carrick’s role will involve assessing the current squad, but substantial transfer activities are not expected until a new long-term manager is identified.
Should Barcelona decide to begin negotiations in the summer, United is poised to be among the front-runners for Casadó’s signature. The club’s preference for either a La Masia product or an established midfielder from the Premier League remains uncertain, but their pressing need for a midfield reinforcements is well acknowledged.
