Manchester United eyeing RB Salzburg midfielder Oscar Gloukh – Latest News on Man United’s Transfers

Manchester United set their sights on RB Salzburg midfielder Oscar Gloukh - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s biggest problem last season was their shaky backline, which conceded 58 goals in 38 league games — their most in a single Premier League season.

However, new part-owners INEOS have shown they intend to address all areas of the pitch this summer, having already made moves for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, and PSG defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Now, a report suggests they are also looking to add some creative flair to their midfield during the summer transfer window.

According to Attacking Football, Oscar Gloukh has emerged on United’s radar, having impressed at RB Salzburg with his talents.

The 20-year-old midfielder racked up nine goals and 18 assists across all competitions for the Austrian giants last season.

Gloukh, who only joined RB Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January of 2023, is understood to be open to a move to England.

Apart from United, Arsenal and Liverpool are also credited with an interest in the talented midfielder.

Having signed the player for a reported fee of €7 million, Salzburg are expected to double that sum should they allow Gloukh to depart this summer.

The aforementioned source expects his future to look clearer after the ongoing Euros tournament in Germany.

Despite Gloukh’s talents and impressive numbers for Salzburg, he is unlikely to become a regular starter should he move to Old Trafford ahead of the new season.

United skipper Bruno Fernandes remains Erik ten Hag’s preferred number 10 and is viewed as an integral part of the Dutchman’s squad despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

However, Fernandes is turning 30 this September and it is high time for the Red Devils to find a quality understudy who allows Ten Hag to rest the Portuguese midfielder and potentially replace him in the future.

In that regard, Gloukh could prove to be a very shrewd signing from INEOS if they can manage to get their hands on him for less than €20 million.
