Manchester United implement measures to prevent Rangers supporters from entering home areas of Old Trafford before Europa League showdown – Manchester United updates and transfer updates.

Man United devise plan to stop Rangers fan from accessing home sections of Old Trafford ahead of Europa League clash - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly already making plans to restrict Rangers fans from accessing home sections of Old Trafford ahead of the Europa League meeting between the two sides in January.

Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail reports that United do not want to be caught in another embarrassing situation like last season when a large number of Galatasaray fans somehow found themselves in United fans’ territories.

It’s believed that around 2,000 Galatasaray supporters infiltrated the United areas of Old Trafford.

The Turkish giants triumphed over United on their home turf, but the defeat was even more painful for the Red Devils as pockets of Galatasaray fans were seen celebrating amidst the frustrated home crowd.

Keegan reveals that United fans told the club they felt “unsafe.”

United apologised and appear determined to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.

“Mail Sport has learned that officials have decided not to sell tickets for the eagerly-anticipated January 23 clash to anyone who was not registered as a member with the club before the Europa League draw which pitted the two together was made.”

“While conversations will take place with police, the club have moved to make sure that only those who were on their database ahead of the draw will be permitted to buy tickets for what has been deemed a ‘high-risk’ game.”

The Mail describe the United vs. Rangers fixture as “the battle of Britain.”

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s men return to action on Thursday when they travel to Istanbul to face Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

United desperately need a win in the Europa League, having taken just two points from their opening two matches against FC Twente and FC Porto.

The Reds will be heading into the match with a lot of confidence following their incredible 2-1 comeback win against Brentford over the weekend.
