Manchester United in discussions with agents of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ivan Toney – Latest updates on transfers and news from Man United

Manchester United hold internal talks with representatives of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ivan Toney - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are making significant progress in negotiations for Joshua Zirkzee, but the 23-year-old might not be the only addition to their front line this summer.

According to The Athletic, United are also considering signing a recognised number nine to support Rasmus Hojlund.

With Zirkzee capable of playing as a wide forward and a striker, similar to the outgoing Anthony Martial, the club sees potential in bolstering their attacking options.

However, United’s finances mean major sales would need to take place to add another forward.

The prospect has not been ruled out, especially given United’s modest goal tallies in Erik ten Hag’s two campaigns, scoring only 58 and 57 Premier League goals respectively.

Internally, United have held talks about Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who each have one year remaining on their contracts.

Both players have indicated they will not be signing fresh terms at their clubs and are seeking moves.

Brentford are reportedly asking for £60m for Toney, 28, though some believe a figure closer to £40m might be acceptable.

Meanwhile, Everton’s financial situation could see them open to selling Calvert-Lewin, 27, for around £30m to avoid losing him for free in 2025.

Although Calvert-Lewin’s injury record is a consideration, United have noted his 38 appearances last season, during which he played 18 more Premier League minutes than Hojlund and scored seven goals.

Beyond attacking reinforcements, United are also looking for a left-sided defender to provide cover for Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, given their injury issues last season.

With Tyrell Malacia still working his way back to fitness, Feyenoord’s David Hancko, 26, has been considered for his ability to operate at both centre-back and full-back. However, his potential cost might be prohibitive for someone likely to be a squad player.

In addition to strengthening the attack and defence, United are also keen to bolster their central midfield.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is being considered, though loan options are also being seriously contemplated.
