Manchester United in discussions with no-nonsense Thomas Tuchel, negotiations expected to move forward this week – Latest updates on Man United’s news and transfers

INEOS aware of Thomas Tuchel's history of falling out with club chiefs in his previous roles - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are reportedly set to step up contact with Thomas Tuchel as the search for Erik ten Hag’s replacement gathers pace.

Following United’s miserable 4-0 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace on Monday night, there is now more pressure than ever on Ten Hag, whose job at Old Trafford is hanging in the balance.

The hammering at the hands of Palace was United’s 13th Premier League defeat of the campaign. The Red Devils currently lie in eighth position in the top flight and are facing an uphill battle to qualify for Europe, with games against Arsenal, Newcastle United and Brighton next on the agenda.

Unsurprisingly, links to potential Ten Hag successors have intensified since the battering at Selhurst Park. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Tuchel is a frontrunner to assume the hot seat once the campaign concludes.

He’s on INEOS’ list alongside the likes of Gareth Southgate, Ruben Amorim and Graham Potter.

It was previously stated that a section of United players would love to play for Tuchel and despite the top brass harbouring some concerns over his abrasive nature, his winning record and tactical acumen make him a standout candidate.

Ahead of Bayern Munich’s second-leg Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid in Spain, Tuchel added fuel to the fire when he admitted he would be very open to making a return to England. He of course won the Champions League with Chelsea before he was sacked in controversial circumstances by new owner of the Blues Todd Boehly.

According to talkSPORT’s Anil Kandola (via GIVEMESPORT), United are indeed very interested in Tuchel and plan to accelerate talks with his camp as soon as this week.

Kandola explains, “It’s my understanding that contact between Manchester United and Thomas Tuchel will progress later this week, before Bayern’s game against Wolfsburg.”

“On a personal note, I’d be pleased to see Tuchel join United.”

“A proven, no-nonsense winner. Would be good to see him at Old Trafford.”

The reliable Ben Jacobs wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Tuchel would welcome an approach from United if they decide to part ways with Ten Hag.

Tuchel believes he has “unfinished business” in the Premier League. He is also of the opinion that United’s new sporting model would likely “suit his style and personality.”

United return to action this Sunday when they host Arsenal at the Theatre of Dreams.
