Manchester United interested in Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with Xavi as potential target – Transfer update

Manchester United target Xavi eyes Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s managerial target Xavi reportedly wants them to make an ambitious move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

United’s failure to register their first win in the Europa League in their third fixture of this season’s competition on Thursday further mounted pressure on Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman raised plenty of eyebrows with his starting lineup, as he placed his trust in right-back Noussair Mazraoui to make an impact in the final third over Amad Diallo. Still, not many were surprised by the full-time score, as United drew 1-1 against Fenerbahçe.

The Red Devils’ shambolic performances in the Premier League and Europe has intensified suggestions of United searching for Ten Hag’s potential replacement.

Earlier this week, The Peoples Person covered a report claiming United are considering Xavi as a potential candidate to succeed Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Now, a report from Spain relayed by Football365 has alleged that the former Barcelona manager has already made a transfer demand during his talks with the Premier League giants.

It is claimed that Xavi has “asked” for Napoli superstar Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before agreeing to become United’s new manager.

The Georgian has established himself as one of the best wingers in Europe, having led Napoli to a remarkable Serie A title during the 2022/23 campaign.

Kvaratskhelia, who is known for his mesmerising dribbling, has also quickly become a key part of Antonio Conte’s side in Naples.

It is claimed that “his agility in one-on-one situations and his versatility in attack make him a perfect player for the style that Xavi might want to implement at United.”

United’s lacklustre showing going forward against Fenerbahçe further underlined just how toothless their attack is, and a player like Kvaratskhelia has the skill sets to greatly improve the Mancunian outfit.

It is understood that the Italian side’s “asking price would be around €80m” for their talisman. The report adds that United “could be willing to pay if Xavi takes over the reins of the club” as Ineos see the 23-year-old as a “high-potential investment.”
