Manchester United Officially Announce Midfielder Irene Guerrero’s Departure from Club – Latest Update on Man United Transfers

Official: Manchester United confirm midfielder Irene Guerrero has permanently left the club - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have officially confirmed the permanent exit of women’s team midfielder Irene Guerrero.

United signed Guerrero last summer, during the Women’s Super League transfer deadline day. She was brought in at the same time as Gabby George.

Guerrero joined from Atletico Madrid following previous spells with Real Betis and Levante.

She was added to Marc Skinner’s side off the back of Spain’s 1-0 triumph over England in the World Cup final. Guerrero was an unused substitute on that occasion.

The midfielder made seven appearances for the Red Devils, following her debut against Everton.

She was part of United’s squad as they won the FA Cup after beating Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

United add in their statement, “Everyone at Manchester United would like to thank Irene for her service and wish her the best of luck for the rest of her career.”

Guerrero has sealed a permanent switch to Club América Femenil.

She has become the second United player to join the Liga MX Femenil after Lucia Garcia, who signed for Monterrey.

The 27-year-old is the fourth player to part ways with United this summer, following club captain Katie Zelem, 26-year-old forward Garcia and goalkeeper Mary Earps out of the club.

While Guerrero was not a key part of Skinner’s plans last term, United may still need to strengthen in the midfield department to avoid being left short.

United have so far moved to bolster their attacking and defensive departments with the acquisitions of Elisabeth Terland (from Brighton and Hove Albion) and Dominique Janssen (Wolfsurg) respectively.
