Manchester United target Gleison Bremer has suggested in a recent interview that he may be considering a move away from Juventus.
Earlier in the year, the Red Devils were strongly linked with the Brazilian defender, with speculation surrounding their potential activation of his €60 million release clause.
However, as the season came to a close, it became evident that Manchester United had shifted their focus to other targets. A bid for Jarrad Branthwaite was turned down by Everton, and negotiations on personal terms proceeded.
The club is currently making headway in securing a deal to acquire Matthijs de Ligt, which appears to be the most probable transfer for United this summer.
Reports indicated that Juventus’ Bremer was no longer within United’s sights due to Juventus’ reluctance to sell and their interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio.
However, recent remarks from Bremer in an interview with AS (via La Gazzetta dello Sport) suggest that the situation may not be completely settled.
The 27-year-old stated, “I’m very focused on the Copa America and I’ll leave the matter to my agents. Of course, I’ve read some things and I’m happy knowing that clubs with so much history follow me, but the truth is that I will talk about it with my agents after the Copa America.”
He also praised incoming Juventus manager Thiago Motta, expressing, “he will be well received by the whole locker room. He is a professional who has done an excellent job and I think he was an excellent choice for the club.”
Nevertheless, his initial comments are likely to capture the attention of clubs like United.
There are rumors that Erik ten Hag’s side may consider signing two center-backs, especially if players like Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof depart from the team.
For this reason, United’s pursuit of De Ligt has not ruled out their interest in Branthwaite, and they could potentially revisit a move for Bremer.
Described as a “physically strong center-back” with “excellent aerial ability,” Bremer could be a suitable replacement for Maguire if he leaves the club this summer.
